"True wealth come from good health and wise ways." - Dead Prez, Be Healthy

I don't know where, though. I haven't been tracking my measurements (middle thigh, hips, waist, biceps) individually, but I suspect I'm getting slightly more little in the middle. I also added 5 pushups to my total leading me to believe this was a strength building kind of week.
As you can see, I actually gained weight. This wasn't the best eating week. I've gone out to eat most of the last 4 days (Sushi at Miyako; a Taco Zone run; brunch at Canele) and slightly healthier options with dinner at Hugo's, dim sum at Elite, and finally a very healthy dinner tonight made at home.
I know all of this because I've been tracking my stats all over the place: Daily Mile, Health Month, Wii Fit, The Weekly Fitness Test. I'm quite enjoying the bits of motivation and competition that these services (and my friends on them) spark and while I'm anxious for the BMI and Weight numbers to drop, I know I'm working hard because I'm tracking and because...I want to win.
After successfully meeting my workout goals this week, next week is about more reasonable eating. It's a soup and sandwich (or salad) kind of week for me at lunch and we'll see what the numbers say at the end.
- The Best Thing I Saw This Week: Since TV is terrible right now and I didn't make it to any movies, take your pick - Ms. Jen, Cascades Park, Carrie, the house we looked at yesterday for fun
- The Best Thing I Heard This Week: Three Feet High and Rising. Re-familiarizing myself with that album yesterday was well worth it. Runner-up: Lil Wayne's 6'7 was ridiculous to listen to in the car. Straight banger.
- The Best Thing I've Read This Week: I spent a good 6 or 7 hours yesterday with The Big Payback. If you are any kind of hip-hop head or want to understand how the music industry has worked over the last 40 years, you want to read this. I am learning so much.
- The Thing I Read This Week That Most Resonated...
Honestly, it wasn't anything I tumbled. It was the chapter of The Big Payback dealing with the rise of hip hop radio from KDAY to KMEL to POWER 106 and HOT 97. It reminded me of a time when radio mattered so much more than it does today. It reminded me of being a teenager in LA and switching back and forth between POWER and THE BEAT on the regular. And while POWER isn't anything like it was nearly 20 years ago (or a decade ago for that matter) and while I'm perhaps more inclined to flip between KCRW and Art Laboe's old school show these days, 106 on the FM dial still touts itself as the place where hip-hop lives.
19 or so years and running.
