"We won't do anything you say." - Brandnew
Right now I'm listening for the first time to the soon to be released Road Rules Compilation disc Don't Make Me Pull This Thing Over - Vol. 1 from Roadrunner Records with a little help from the folks here at bmp. Never mind that none of the songs that are on the disc will be heard on an episode of Road Rules this season. That's besides the point. If you like emo-inspired bands like Dashboard Confessional and Jimmy Eat World and The Get Up Kids you might dig it. There's some tracks with a little too much screaming going on but otherwise its surprisingly a pretty decent CD.
In other news, I'm really digging that Amerie track, Why don't we fall in love? and the first single from AZ's Aziatic. It would do my heart good if Amerie does well. We won't even talk about the fact that well, just wow, have you seen the video? She's wearing the hell out of those shorts and is just the prettiest thing you could ever want on a summery day. But more than that, for a nice poppy little R&B song, her mix is right, highlighting her vocal skill over top of the nice track rather than mixing her in low so that her performance is masked behind the beat. Very unlike some other pop songstresses. I'm also kind of feeling that new Faith/Missy remix but I can't remember the name right now and have no desire to search it out.
blogtastic: You should check out last night's Which Way L.A.?. It features a short interview with Officer Morse's lawyer. He's the same lawyer that represented Officer Theodore Briseno during another famous brutality case. And if you can't listen you can read about it here. Warren Olney also discusses how serious HIV and AIDS continues to be in Los Angeles. Its also mad serious in South Africa and whose coming to the rescue? Only the most progressive show on television. I lied last night when I said I was going to discuss warrants...I don't feel like it anymore. But, I do wish I had at least seen this game. WNBA players can lay the smash down too.
p.s. in the middle of writing this, I went to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles for lunch with the boys. Damn. Grits, Chicken, Eggs and biscuits. You betta ask somebody.
