Top 5 songs of the right now :: "Strip Club" -- Jaylib I'm a sucker for Madlib as Quasimoto and the track is just hot to death. Champion Sound might be my favorite hip hop album of 2003. I've started compiling that list. "They" -- Jem Concept, lyrics, head nodding UK sound. Jem is no joke. "What More Can I Say" -- Jay-Z When I need to get amped, I turn to this Jigga track. "Fuck This, Man!" "Across the Universe" -- The Beatles Many have argued that the Phil Spector orchestration made these songs better. I disagree. There's a real rawness to the naked album that provides a whole new perspective on these tracks. They are stark and striking and emotionally honest. "Mirror in the Bathroom" -- The Beat Tricky's Back to Mine appeals to my sensibilities about music and Mirror in the Bathroom is probably the best example of it. A hip hop act would go platinum if they would just sample the hook off this track. Speed it up, slow it down. add a hot drum beat or piano loop to it. It's golden.
