"Keep them all together and keep 'em warm" - The Polyphonic Spree, We Sound Amazed [buy the album]
I was going to tell you about the Dodgers/Phillies game, my sister's week at US PerformingArts Camp (and her pseudo celebrity co-camper whose mother attended the final performance in major hollywood incognito glasses), how I went to a young NOT-SAG event (NOT Sponsored by SAG, NOT Supported by SAG, maybe even hated by SAG) last week, which was led by George Sibley and Andrea Zuckerman and whose vehement railing against the evils of production had me feeling like The Enemy.
Yeah, but now I don't care anymore so let's just keep turning negroplease.com into a true blog where I just link to shit because I've run out of things to say.
Charles Taylor's Lost at the Movies has me intrigued about a film I previously had no interest in seeing, Code 46.
I've been having a random email conversation about the Insane Clown Posse (well tattoos, specifically) with an Obfuscated Girl and now Jimi Izrael is going head to head with the Juggalos? How is ICP still relavent after all these years?
Rather than protest Birth of a Nation, why not organize a teach-in or discussion to go in companion with it? Having seen the film in a History of Film class, I think it's worth it from both a cinematic perspective and for it's absolutely racist imagery as a jumping off point for conversation. It was the most successful film in film history for 2 decades. Why not look at it now and try to figure out why?
I don't even know why I'm enamored with Xtina but I'll tell you this: having Dido produce tracks for her next album isn't going to help me get over it.
Am I the only person who didn't know Ron Isley had a stroke?
And is this an appropriate time to talk about how good the Isley Brothers remix album is? I've been listening to an advance copy for the last week or so and it's kind of ridiculous.
But the remix album I want most is this relatively expensive import.
