"This month is highlighted yellow with one box of blue." - Spymob, National Holidays (Sitting Around Keeping Score)
EJ asked, "Hey, since it's your 30th, should we be congregatin' in JT-Ville? What's the plan, man?"
Tis true, I turn 30 on March 19th of this year. Locally, I suspect that there will be a party, probably at Falcon or Monroe's and several intimate dinners throughout the month with the folks I love all across the fair city of Los Angeles. But for all you out of town web heads that might want to celebrate with me might I suggest coming to SXSW this year?
I will be there. I'm a panelist, in fact, talking about this blogging nonsense. I expect to be there for the entire interactive portion and possibly part of the music festival (My main man, Tré Hardson! The Donnas!! Sleater-Kinney!!! Erykah Badu!!!!!)
I suggest you be there, too. I like all y'all but I'm particularly talking to you wimminandminorities. Now, there are a few things I'm touting this year: Less jive in 2005 (thanks EJ!); more whores at parties; and, more brown people* at conferences.
Be in Austin on the 13th, 14th, or 15th of March and we can have drinks, probably see a great local band, and shoot the shit. You can toast me. I can get drunk. Then we'll have a great panel discussion about identity/race blogging on Monday.
And despite the fact that my peoples will be in Austin shooting our flagship show and that we'll be doing something at the conference, my participation this year is completely unrelated.
I just go where other smart black people tell me to go.
Buy me drinks.
It's that simple.
