"Dance music. Romance. Good Times." - Jody Watley, Saturday Night Experience
I hadn't had what I would consider a normal Saturday in nearly two months. With all the moving and holidays and activity of recent there hasn't been time for just doing a whole lot of nothing around the house.
Well, this past Saturday came through and nothing came by for a visit. There were no plans. No where i had to be. No people coming over. No major errands or anything.
So, I watched cartoons. I caught up on my feeds. I tumbled. I listened to music. I emptied the DVR (and have grown quite fond of Breaking Bad). I didn't get dressed until the early evening. I didn't work out (for the first time in nearly 3 weeks). I did laundry. I even watched a little Disney Channel and Disney XD just because I could.
And I felt great. Beyond the self-imposed guilt of skipping a work out day (which was really necessary, by the way, the left hip and the muscles really appreciated it when I went back on the workout train on Sunday), I loved the lack of action and the return to normalcy.
But maybe I shouldn't be so excited. This return to normal preceded what, for the next two weeks, will be a return to old things -- an empty house. Tiffany's gone for two weeks on business and the silence is deafening.
I guess what I really like is the new normal.
Goals for the Coming Week!
- Don't return to single guy bad habits. home cooked dinners. a clean house. these things are just as important when I'm by myself. Keep at it.
- Get out of the house. See your friends. Catch a movie. Don't laze on the couch all week.
- Finish some lingering wedding tasks. Namely invitations and entertainment booking.
How'd I do on last week's goals? I did 2 of the 3 non-workout blog posts. I did not drink calories this week (except on Thursday when I had two Dark & Stormies at Firefly). I cleared about half of my overdue work tasks. More action on that this week.
The Week in Review
- The Best Thing I Saw This Week: Hmmm, I've been really impressed with Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. I'm also really glad Fringe and Parks & Recreation are back on the air.
- The Best Thing I Heard This Week: An oldie but a goodie. I closed my week with a listen to Burial's Untrue. Still haunting. Still awesome.
- The Best Thing I Read This Week: I'm reading Nine Lives which is good but it is currently taking a back seat to the 6 weeks of comics I'm catching up on right now.
- The Thing I Read This Week That Most Resonated:
Cowardice asks the question, is it safe? Expediency asks the question, is it politic? Vanity asks the question, is it popular? But conscience asks the question, is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because it is right. - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Why? Because if I could live just a little of my life with the power of conviction, ethics, and value that MLK preached and promoted, I'd know I lived a life of honor no matter when I take my last breath. Let's do right, y'all. And by right, I mean care for each other above all else.
Love hard!
Let's go!
